Serendipidy

Lots of things have been happening in my life that seem to have converged in a serendipitous way.   This has led to contemplation and a commitment to change a fair few different but linked areas in my life..

My goals for 2012 are:

  • I want to not buy anything new that is not necessary

I know I will struggle with this one.  I like “stuff” but if I really want to simplify my life then less “stuff” is better.  To help actually achieve this goal, I think I will start with a two month goal.  Two four months has flown by with Miss Barry’s addition, two months of thought and commitment surely has to be achievable!  I might look at doing a two month on, two month off arrangement of this goal.

  •  2012 in 2012

This is a commitment to move 2012 pieces of “stuff” out of our house, donations, gifts, sales of stuff on auction/classified sites or simply throwing it out if it is not valuable to anyone else.  Moving it on.
2012 divided by 52 weeks equals 38.69, which I will round up, for ease.  I plan to move on 39 pieces of “stuff” per week (on average) every week next year.

  •  Make our budget more of a focus

I need to set a specific savings goal for this one. 

  • Health is always on the list, but I’d like to see my goal weight in 2012 (60kg).

This is an 11.5kg weight loss going by the doctor’s scales recently – I think that’s do-able.  Additionally, this would see me back to a size I have not seen since I was in my early twenties, but I still, oddly, perceive I am.  I have recently lost weight to get me to a point where I am in (the top end) the “healthy” zone of the BMI which is a great start, but I need to build on this.

  • I’d like to see us eating more healthy home made foods, which fits in with the goals above

To this end, I think a meal plan will be required to help achieve this.  Do you have a favourite way to do this?  (App/website suggestions appreciated)

  •  I’d also like to blog more regularly this year – once a week at least.

I would love to attract and keep some non-friend blog followers – friend followers are good too 😉

  • I’d like to do some study

A short course might be a good way to get back into the study mode, I need to pick something specific and book it in – maybe this could be my first savings project!
