New Year Purge

I’m still not sure how specific to be on my 2012 in 2012 project.  Is every small piece an item?  I’ve already decided that general household garbage does not count toward this tally, but I’m not sure how other small items work.  I think initially I will count everything as much as I can until I understand some more how it will all pan out.  I can always reorganise groups of items into “bags” or “loads” but if I start with bags as a singular I won’t get a full picture of what I am doing.

That said, I think some days documenting a “bag” will be easier than itemising it all.

I am also trying hard to no list things until they have actually made it out of the house, not just packed up to go, as I think this will provide extra incentive to not leave things stacked up by the front door ready to go (where history has shown they can live for months).

So, today the following was purged:

1. Cooking pot (binned – damaged and unsafe)

2. Kettle (binned – damaged and unsafe)

3 – 12. 10x Glass jars given away for preserving/jam making

I love this idea! This sounds a bit weird but one of my favourite things to do once a year is to hire a big skip bin and just get rid of the clutter. It is such a great feeling to fill it up and get rid of everything all at once 🙂 Good luck with the next 2000 things you purge!

Thanks Jo, I’m hoping that this project will start a new life habit for me so there will eventually be less for me to purge, in the mean time I just have to wade through everything and pick what it is that is going today.
